Multidimensional screening and evaluation of morpho‐physiological indices for salinity stress tolerance in wheat

چکیده

Soil salinity is one of the major constraints to crop production worldwide. The multifaceted nature tolerance traits complicates plant screening and identification salt-tolerant germplasm be used for genetic advancement corps. Many criteria have been suggested distinguish between genotypes. Most these were applied under controlled environmental conditions limited developmental stage plants. As a result, most reported could not validated field conditions. This study employed membership function value (MFV) assess NaCl eight wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes measured at germination, vegetative reproductive stages, as an integrative tool overall performance. Salt stresses had adverse effect on physiological (residual transpiration, stomatal density, chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics; leaf N, Na+ K+ content) agronomical (plant height; biomass; root tiller number; grain) characteristics. Based this assessment, plants divided into three contrasting groups: salt tolerant, moderately tolerant sensitive. Although did show same degree in glasshouse experiments, variety Yu-07 showed consistently better performance all trials, whilst Aus19720 was sensitive experiments. These potential further studies uncover mechanisms governing stress response wheat.

evaluation of relationship between salinity stress tolerance indices and some physiological traits in bread wheat

the deleterious effects of salinity on plant growth and development are associated with the imbalance ion in plant, decreased k+ and increased na+, and ultimately yield loss. in order to evaluate the effects of salinity, 41 bread wheat varieties (trticum aestivum l.) were planted in the randomized complete block design with three replications under two saline irrigation conditions, 0.631 and 11...

evaluation of heat stress tolerance indices in wheat

continual heat stress affects approximately 7 million hectares of wheat in developing countries, while terminal heat stress is a problem in 40% of temperate environments, which cover 36 million hectares throughout the world. heat tolerance is a quantitative and complex trait that doesn’t have much success in direct selection. for this purpose, however, a thorough understanding of physiological ...

Evaluation of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) lines/cultivars under salinity stress using tolerance indices

Selecting and cultivating the crops/varieties that can tolerate water salinity is potentially animportant strategy to save fresh water resources and maximize the crop yield in salt affected areas. To evaluate the responses of 36 sorghum lines and cultivars to salinity stress, two fieldexperiments were conducted in non-stress (EC=2 dS/m) and salinity stress conditions (EC=12dS/m) using randomized...

Evaluation and selection for salinity stress tolerance in Iranian promising alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) ecotypes

To improve salinity stress tolerance in Iranian promising alfalfa ecotypes, including Shorkat, Gharghologh, Gharaghozloo, Rehnani, Roodasht Isfahan and Gavkhooni, a recurrent selection scheme was carried out at roodasht and kabootarabad field stations, Isfahan, Iran, during 2012-2017 growing seasons. Six Iranian promising alfalfa ecotypes were planted in the autumn of 2012 and irrigated with sa...
